The warmest of welcomes awaits couples at the plush Blue Waters resort, a gorgeous hotel nestling in the northwest corner of Antigua, just a short drive from St John’s.

There can be few resorts in the world that provide a more exquisite setting for weddings and honeymoons than Blue Waters – it is a tropical paradise that epitomizes luxury and elegance! Not surprisingly, the resort has earned the reputation of being one of the Caribbean’s finest, offering first-class service and making each guest feel like a VIP.

Situated in Soldiers Bay, in an idyllic beachside setting, Blue Waters resort offers a choice of three white sandy beaches, so secluded that you could feel like you are on your own private island. The resort is renowned for offering luxurious living in bright and spacious surroundings.

On arrival, guests are offered a cooling fruit cocktail in the entrance lobby, which leads into the Pelican Bar, named after the majestic birds which frequent the bay at Blue Waters – it’s a great place to relax throughout the day and in the evenings enjoy live entertainment from Antigua’s finest performers, including a traditional steel band guaranteed to get you on your feet!

This sumptuous hotel is set in 17-acres of carefully-manicured tropical gardens, with winding paths leading to guest rooms, suites and villas tucked away amidst colourful flowers and exotic vegetation. There are also seven freshwater swimming pools, secluded beach coves and a choice of restaurants and bars, offering superb local and international cuisine.

Stay in style

Accommodation is presented in a choice to suit all tastes and budgets, from beautifully appointed guest rooms to the impressive colonial-style Cove Suites, which are the pride and joy of Blue Waters with their stunning interiors, unbeatable locations, incredible sunset views and private gardens with infinity pools exclusive to Cove Suite guests. Or you could really push the boat out in the finest rock star tradition and hire the stunning Rock Cottage – standing majestically on a rock peninsular above the Caribbean Sea with breathtaking views of the turquoise ocean, this private villa offers complete privacy and is a firm favourite with celebrities, small wedding parties and as an intimate honeymoon haven. Finally, Turtle Cottage and Pelican House both offer luxurious self-contained living in spacious, private accommodation that is ideal for family holidays.

Wining and dining

Each of the hotel’s restaurants enjoys a gorgeous setting and offers delicious cuisine lovingly prepared by Head Chef Rene and his team. The Palm Restaurant is open all day and offers both indoor and al fresco dining in a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the gardens and ocean beyond, while Bartley’s serves romantic Pan-Asian cuisine in an intimate setting. The Cove enjoys a unique cliff top position and combines Caribbean and French cuisine with flair. The entrance to The Cove is truly romantic as guests are greeted with flaming torches leading into the candlelit hall where diners are treated to amazing views of the Caribbean Sea – so close you can almost touch it. There are also three bars: The Pelican Bar, Veronica’s Bar located by the main pool, and the Beach Bar, in a rustic beach setting. Guests can stay at the resort on a B&B basis; however most choose the All-Inclusive option, which includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner at each of the hotel’s restaurants, plus soft drinks, alcohol and cocktails.

Wellbeing & fitness

Take the opportunity to get healthy and active during your honeymoon beginning at the sublime Spa & Beauty Salon where you can be indulged in a range of Elemis treatments to soothe, relax and rejuvenate mind, body and soul with everything from couples’ massages to pampering manicures. The Fitness Centre has a fully-equipped air-conditioned gym with personal training available upon request. There is also a floodlit tennis court within the resort’s gardens and an 18-hole golf course just 10 minutes away – golf fees can be booked via the hotel’s tour desk.

Take to the ocean

Down on the beach an abundance of exhilarating water sports awaits, including snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing and kayaking with introductory lessons for beginners. However, there can be nothing more romantic than setting sail at sunset or taking a lobster lunch cruise on a two or four-hour private trip aboard the resort’s luxury power boat to discover the magnificent Antiguan coastline and the port of St John’s. Trips and excursions can all be arranged at the hotel’s tour desk.

Weddings

Tie the knot in sensational style at Blue Waters, and choose from a host of wonderful wedding venues – from its beautifully decorated floral Gazebo to the über chic Rock Cottage. Blue Waters’ highly-experienced and charming wedding planner, Mandie, and her dedicated wedding team will organize everything down to the finest detail. The most popular venue is the Gazebo at the end of Blue Waters point, reached by a rustic stone pathway and surrounded by the sparkling turquoise ocean. However, for equally stunning alternatives, have a barefoot beach ceremony on the sand, where a palm arch can be erected and decorated with flowers. Or hire The Cove Restaurant for an elegant setting with gorgeous sea views. However, a wedding at Rock Cottage is the ultimate experience, providing a totally private venue for a spectacular special day.

There is plenty of choice for your wedding reception too. For intimate wedding breakfasts, with just the Bride and Groom, a private dinner can be arranged in the wedding gazebo where the marriage took place or down on the beach where a beautifully decorated table is set-up beneath the stars and a bespoke, pre-selected menu is served. Alternatively small wedding parties can dine in Bartley’s and in The Palm where guests can enjoy al fresco dinner and dancing to the sounds of live music. For larger wedding groups, a more formal reception or Caribbean-style BBQ can be arranged at the Poolside Deck, on the Beach, and The Cove Restaurant can cater for parties up to 90 guests. Meanwhile, sit back and enjoy the Caribbean sun, while Mandie creates the wedding of your dreams for you.
