The extraordinary atmosphere of North Chile and the Atacama Desert, with over 300 clear nights a year and almost  no light pollution, is home to an astronomical centre with one of the largest telescopes in the world. A number of observatories now offer stargazing tours, which include transport, accommodation and the use of stargazing equipment. What could possibly bw more romantic for a honeymoon treat – except gazing into each other’s eyes perhaps! Whilst in North Chile, be sure to visit the bohemian city of Valparaiso, an Unesco WOrld Heritage Site, renowned for its colourful homes that hang off the hills and into the sea.
